The World is Singin’ its Blues

guitarboy2              Guitar Boy by June Perkins

The world is singin’ its blues
askin’ for a bit of time to heal
askin’ why it’s so hard to feel
that nothin’ we do is gonna make
peace be real

askin’ for a DJ who understands
the need for peace
who can give us some
musical release
to sing out tears
dress them in a parent’s tears.

The world is ringin’ out its questions
why, oh why’s a piece of land
or your religion
something to kill or die for
and why are people so quick
to tie their fate to
those noose of hate?

askin’ for a DJ who can change the down beat
into an upbeat
bring some kind of optimism into play
dress that sorrow
in a technicolour tomorrow.

The world is singin’ its blues
askin’ for a bit of time to heal
askin’ why it’s so hard to feel
that nothin’ we do is gonna make
peace be real

World Peace~Cascade

WritersDream9

World Peace World Peace

Weapons were silenced

A hush fell over the Earth

World peace was a reality

~

On battlefields every where

Soldiers began to sing prayers

Weapons were silenced

~~

Refusing to fight anymore

For lands that were to be shared

A hush fell over the Earth

~~~
Rushing across the fields
Anxious to know their enemies
World peace was a reality
They studied war no more
“In the spirit of Guy Fawkes Night, I call upon you to write a poem which celebrates something that never happened.  I’ll let you interpret that however you want.  Feel free to get as creative as you want…maybe even have yourself a cheerful bonfire to boot!”
The circle
the Book of Pain
The infinite, graceful arcs
circumambulating the center,
calling out their love for
their heart; so divisible
in the whole to the whole,
the total where you are from
and where you will go—
To God that I was so perfect!
The 360° in a circle is evenly divisible by many numbers, nine out of the first ten, for example. (The exception is seven.) But it is the perfection of the circle surrounding it’s focal point that attracts me to it as a metaphor.
Thank you for reading The circle. I sincerely hope you have enjoyed it and I humbly appreciate your visiting the Book of Pain. As always, I look forward to your comments.
Peace Within~Writing Course 201 Day 10
WritersDream9
Peace Peace
Searching in the sand for my peace
Rhythmically etching your fine lines
O how you trace the smooth and crease
Your humble simplicity surely shines
~
Will I find my pleasure in your grains
Meditatively refining my point of view
Your quality of serenity still remains
To face the world refreshed and new
~
My fingers notice your rough texture
Bringing my awareness to the now
In your specks I have found a treasure
Concentrating on my truth I do avow
~
The world can no longer me contain
You have lifted me high above the pain
